God Instructing Abraham – Lessons of Abrahamic Covenant from Genesis 17: 19, 22

TO REMEMBER:

Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him ISAAC. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.”.

When GOD had finished speaking with Abraham, He went up from him.

? *- Gen.17:19,22.*

TO UNDERSTAND:

GOD had instructed Abraham to give the name “Isaac” to his son. Names in the Bible carry much significance. The meaning of “Isaac” is ‘one who laughs or rejoices’.

Isaac grew seeing his father Abraham’s sincere devotion to GOD & experienced many similar trials & blessings. At the age of 28 he lost his mother Sarah & at the age of 40 he got married to ‘Rebekah’, a girl of GOD’s choice, as was arranged by his father Abraham (through his Godly servant Eliezer) from his own background or nativity (Gen.15). Rebekah was barren but in answer to Isaac’s prayer, GOD blessed him with twin sons Esau & Jacob. Isaac had his share of disappointments especially in his old age but he honoured GOD till the end!

The Bible has a lot of life-stories of various individuals & their relationship with GOD., that we too can learn to relate with GOD & walk with Him!
