5 Signs of a Mature Christian

Bible makes it very clear why one must be a mature Christian. One needs to develop a close relation with Christ after he has accepted him. In fact, growing close to Christ is the most important thing to do in life. Now, there is a differentiation between one who is a mature and one who is immature. We ought to go deep enough and be committed enough as “real Christians”.

Before marching towards the 5 signs which is an obvious to be included here in this paper, I would like to quote some verse from scripture. This says in Hebrews 5: 12 “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” In addition, we must note the most imperative statement which says: “In order to grow spiritually we must love God and establish link with him every day of our life”.

From one of the books by famous evangelical Zac Poonen named “Needed Men of God” , he described the men as spiritual calibre who should seek grace from the Lord to press towards the mark. He also says that we must have the conviction that the Word of God must be spoken faithfully, even if the messenger is convicted by that Word and be Holy men of God.

Absolute Convicted Signs

1.Mature Christians receive the truth of the Gospel of Bible as it was passed down to them.

For instance, we get news from the Newspaper boy and it is the news that we come to know every day. Here the boy is the messenger and in the same way we ought to work as a messenger to spread the gospel of Christ to the Gentile world and make them free through by giving the knowledge of Jesus Christ and his work at the cross. As we know that scriptures have come to us as an inspiration from God by holy men (prophets- 2 Peter 1:21) and not a tittles can be removed without obeying the prophesy written.

Galatians 1: 8says “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

It is true that we cannot take anything from the scripture nor add anything to it (Rev 22:18) because God’s word is given as pure fingerprints of him which passes down to generation without any error, mixture, or impurity.

Another scripture portion speaks as: Hebrews 6: 1 “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.”

After we have received salvation from God, we should no longer dwell in our past rather grow and never think to stay the same having no increase in rooted Word of God. Jesus have called us to follow and be like him and it can only happen when we strongly get deep insight, generate and develop ourselves as how he wants us to be.

2. Be conscious and start confessing their own sins

In Matthew 7: “1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”

We must be wise enough to keep silence when it is needed and speak only at the proper time. This is because words do kill and destroy happiness and bring chaos in the environment. Thus, we must watch our words and know when not to speak. We can do this by first examining our sins and confessing it to other. Even if our sins are sore bitter and we might feel guilty speaking it, but the thing is that we must get right with God no matter what. And it is not the people around whom we are to please by showing only our bright side rather pleasing God because he holds everything of our life.

2. Gracious Judges

There are many people around us; counted both Christians and non-Christians who like to speak ill about others. Even with the slightest discovery of man’s affair, the news reaches to a wide crowd. As people like to indulge in someone else’s matter making to end the conversation even worse. However, let not be like them, and pray for them that things may come to its best level.

There was one a famous and excellent Bible expositor and preacher named Rev. Theodore Williams who started Indian Evangelical Mission (IEM). He was mightily used in India for sharing gospel and doing missionary work. There was a moment when he confessed his sins by posting about his dark side in magazines where he asked the readers to pray for this so that he might get things right with God.

According to James 3: 2 “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.”

Now it is the responsibility of matured Christian to maintain unity and walk in perfectness towards God.
