Flee from Youthful Lusts & Pursue Righteousness, Faith, Love & Peace

TO REMEMBER:

One day, Joseph went into the house to attend to his duties, & none of the household servants was inside. Potiphar’s wife caught him by his cloak & said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand & ran out of the house. When she saw that he had left … she called her household servants. “Look,” she said to them, “this Hebrew … came in here to sleep with me, but when I screamed … for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house.”

? – Gen.39:11-15

TO UNDERSTAND:

Poor young Joseph! He had overcome home-sickness, overcome the trauma of his own brothers trying to kill him, thrown in a dark pit but removed & sold, possibly faced culture-shock in Egypt, experienced servant-hood., & having just got the favour of his master was left with false accusations from his wife, something more painful to tolerate!

It came quite naturally to Joseph the knowledge that the best way to escape from lust or temptation was to “run away” from it! No hanging around or going back for the cloak!!

(Read: Prov.6:27-35)

FLEE youthful lusts & pursue righteousness, faith, love & peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
